AN EXTENDED KNOWLEDGE

Jules Arsenault, humanist and rector at the University du Québec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue from 1989 to 2004, said that education means freedom. If he's right, the Témiscabitibian have the possibility to get as free as they want, if we consider all the learning and the improvement opportunities offered to them!

Instruction is a priority for the Témiscabitibian whose programs of education directly answer the distinctive needs of the area where they are offered. The campuses of the postsecondary schools are located all over the area and even beyond its boundaries. Knowledge extend to where a need is felt and also extend to a variety of shape and content.

Abitibi-Témiscamingue have five french-speaking school board and an english-speaking one who offer many new specialized programs from art to sport, including the Vert-Bruntland philosophy and international studies. The technical sector is not left apart: with its regionally devised approach and its link with the labour market, the employment rate is almost 100%.

With its 40 years of existence, the College of Abitibi-Témiscamingue offer fifteen technical programs and four preacademic programs that specifically answer the labour needs of the area and offers a renowned education to international students. There is more than 2600 students that crosses over the doors of the campus of Amos, Rouyn-Noranda and Val-d'Or every year.

To chose UQAT is to chose a good teaching in a dynamic environment with a human touch, where teachers and staff are always available. The UQAT's world, has over 100 study program from 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle, which many of them are not to be found elsewhere in Québec. It is also a stimulating place with its 3500 students all over the territory. In 25 years, UQAT was able to get its part of the lionshare and to become a reference in many field of teaching and researching, here and elsewhere. Moreover the University brilliantly innovate with its First Nation Department, who will offer a higher education to Natives from all of the province and the east of Canada.

We are eager to know our territory even more, so much that renowned research chairs are studying ways to protect and improve the area. Because freedom also means to understand the world in which we live, to exploit it wisely and share it with those that will succeed us.
